Hearing protection for musicians -the ER 25
In December i bought a pair of ER 25 ear protectors. I play in a heavy metal band, which means im exposing my ears to loud music alot and im becoming alittle deaf, which can be worrying at times. I have been using the foam earplugs for concerts and practice, but there dont seem to do much at all. My band had a UK tour coming up in February and i thought since i would be playing every night to buy a permenant pair and protect my hearing.
These have been working wonders. They are very easy to fit in and can be almost too comfortable that i forget im wearing them at some points, which leads me to another plus of these. Its like the volume is hardly turned down at all. They will protect from the lower and high end frequencies from the other instruments, mainly from the vocals and drums.
After having cast of my inner ears taken they were made in six weeks. Now I can enjoy the music i love to play and listen to for much longer. The earplugs come in a variety of colours and can be connected up via cord to make sure you dont lose them, as they are small. The clear ones without the cord can be a nightmare to find, im sure i’d be have lost them without the cord by now. You do have to have your ears syringed first before you go to get them done, as the wax in the ears wont give an accurate impression of the cast.
Getting ER 25’s is one of the better moves a musician can make, as they save your hearing, but dont compromise on the sound. As musicaisn, we wont want anything more- except more equipment.
